At the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, our projects have taken us from classrooms to coastlines, from the mountains of Nabuclod to schools and communities across Pampanga and beyond.
Some projects provide immediate necessities.
Some create opportunities.
Some build relationships.
Some bring joy.
And some grow into partnerships that continue year after year.
These are the stories behind our service.
From an Idea to an Impact

Sometimes it starts with a need we see ourselves.
Sometimes a community tells us what is needed.
Sometimes a partner opens a door.
Sometimes one person connects us to another.
And sometimes a simple Facebook message becomes the beginning of something much bigger.
Our project stories show what can happen when members, volunteers, communities, donors, sponsors and partners work together.
Because Kiwanis does not serve alone.
🏔️ Gift of Hope
Seven Years of Showing Up for the Aeta Children of Nabuclod
One of our most meaningful stories began with a Facebook message.
Joy Quiza of the Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation (ALQCF) reached out to KC-Lubao Gems looking for a trusted local organization that could help children in the Aeta community of Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
One conversation became a partnership.
The partnership became an annual outreach.
And the outreach became Gift of Hope—one of the club’s signature service commitments.
Since 2019, Kiwanians and partners have continued returning to Nabuclod with food, school support, essential items, gifts and encouragement. In Year 7, the project reached 602 learners at Nabuclod Integrated School.
But the most important part of the story is not the number.
It is the decision to return.
Again.
And again.
Seven years of service taught us something:
Sustainable service is not only about giving. It is about building trust.
Some children live only a short distance from us geographically, yet reaching them requires an entirely different kind of journey.
Our relationship with the Lambiki coastal community began in 2012, when the club was still KC-Lubao.
Groceries.
Slippers.
Feeding.
Simple acts of service became the beginning of a relationship that continued through the years.
More recently, Kiwanians returned to the coastal area for food and essential-item outreach and, in December 2025, traveled by motorized banca to bring shoebox gifts, milk and snacks to 100 children in Sta. Teresa 2nd, Lubao.
The journey itself becomes part of the story.
Preparing the gifts.
Loading the boat.
Crossing the water.
Meeting the community.
Seeing the children’s faces.
Returning home knowing that the trip was worth every effort.
We don’t simply bring assistance to the coast.
We bring our presence, our time and our willingness to connect.
And some need a safe place to discover their own abilities.
That idea inspired Gift of Music, a program that provides music opportunities to children living in a protective institution.
Beginning in January 2024 and continuing again in 2025, the program provided weekly ukulele lessons over six-month periods. The program was designed not simply to teach an instrument, but to provide children with a structured environment for creativity, self-expression, discipline and connection.
The ukuleles were made possible through support from OB Guitars, while instructors and volunteers contributed their time and skills.
A musical instrument can look like a simple object.
But in the hands of a child, it can become:
A new skill.
A creative outlet.
A source of confidence.
A reason to look forward to the next lesson.
Sometimes service means giving a child something they can carry with them long after the project ends.
For a family struggling to meet daily needs, however, these basic items can remove one more obstacle standing between a child and education.
Education support has remained an important part of KC-Lubao Gems’ service, including school supplies, slippers, school kits, student recognition and youth-development activities.
Our approach is simple:
We do not only ask, “What can we give?”
We ask:
“What will help this child participate, learn and grow?”
That is why education projects connect naturally with our other service areas—from nutrition and health to music and leadership.
Because children do not experience their needs in separate categories.
A child cannot learn well when basic health needs are ignored.
Over the years, KC-Lubao Gems has participated in health and dental outreach activities that brought healthcare-related support closer to children and families in underserved communities.
These projects have included medical and dental services, preventive care and health-focused community activities.
But behind every health mission is a team.
Healthcare professionals.
Kiwanians.
Volunteers.
Schools.
Community leaders.
Donors.
Sponsors.
Families.
Everyone has a role.
A successful health mission is not simply a day of treatment.
It is the result of people working together before, during and after the event.
They also need a healthy environment in which to grow.
That is why environmental service has become part of the KC-Lubao Gems story.
During Kiwanis One Day 2024, Division 2B Kiwanians joined together at the Sta. Teresa 1st Gumain Riverbank in Lubao.
With support from ARAW-ACI, 250 seedlings were planted, while another 50 were donated to Del Carmen National High School. Students participated alongside Kiwanians, connecting environmental stewardship with youth education.
The project also strengthened the relationship between KC-Lubao Gems and Del Carmen National High School, an adopted school of the club.
A tree takes time to grow.
That is precisely the point.
Service is not always about seeing the result immediately.
Sometimes we plant something because we believe the next generation deserves to inherit something better.
Our service has also taken us into indigenous communities where geography and access can create additional challenges.
From Nabuclod to joint Division 2B projects in Tarlac, Kiwanians have worked with communities and fellow Kiwanis clubs to provide educational materials, food, essential items and encouragement.
These projects remind us that meaningful service begins with listening.
We do not assume that every community needs the same thing.
We learn.
We coordinate.
We respond.
And we work with people who know the community.

Not every child needs the same kind of support.

Some need healthcare.

KC-Lubao Gems has therefore participated in humanitarian and community initiatives alongside fellow Kiwanians and community partners.
These activities may look different from our regular children’s programs.
But the principle remains the same:

When you look at a photograph from a Kiwanis activity, you may see:
A box of school supplies.
A group of volunteers.
