Gift of Hope | Serving Aeta Children in Nabuclod, Pampanga
Seven Years of Bringing Hope to the Aeta Children of Nabuclod
A child should never feel forgotten.
Since 2019, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems has returned year after year to the mountain community of Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga, with one purpose: to bring meaningful support, joy, and hope to children and families in the Aeta community.
What began as a simple connection has grown into one of our most enduring and meaningful service commitments.
This is Gift of Hope.
And it is more than a Christmas outreach.
It is a promise to keep showing up.
From One Facebook Message to Seven Years of Service
Every meaningful partnership has a beginning.
Gift of Hope began when Joy Quiza of the Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation (ALQCF) reached out to the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems through Facebook, looking for a trusted local organization that could help children in the Aeta community of Nabuclod.
One conversation became a partnership.
That partnership became an annual service project.
And that project became a relationship built on trust, commitment, and a shared belief that children deserve to be remembered and supported.
Since its launch in December 2019, Gift of Hope has continued to bring assistance and Christmas joy to the Nabuclod community.
One message. One partnership. Seven years of hope.
Our Signature Project
Gift of Hope is one of the signature projects of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems because it reflects what we believe community service should be:
Rather than simply conducting a one-time outreach and moving on, we return to a community we have come to know.
We listen.
We prepare.
We collaborate.
We serve.
And we return.
That continuity matters.
Reaching the Children of Nabuclod
Nabuclod is a mountain community in Floridablanca, Pampanga, home to an Aeta population whose children and families can face significant barriers to resources and opportunities.
Gift of Hope seeks to respond to some of those needs through practical assistance and a celebration that reminds children that their community has not been forgotten.
Over the years, the project has provided combinations of:
Grocery and food packs for families
School supplies and educational materials
Slippers and essential items
Milk and children’s treats
Christmas gifts
Ukuleles and opportunities connected with music
Community fellowship and encouragement
The project has reached more than 200 families in previous years while also serving the student population of Nabuclod Integrated School.
Year 7: 602 Children Reached
In 2025, Gift of Hope reached 602 learners at Nabuclod Integrated School, from Kindergarten through Senior High School.
That means the project did not select only a few children.
The entire student population was included.
For us, inclusion is part of the impact.
Every child deserves to experience the joy of receiving, participating, and being remembered—regardless of family circumstances.
The 2025 outreach combined practical support with a joyful Christmas celebration, reinforcing the project’s purpose beyond material assistance: dignity, belonging, encouragement, and hope.
602 learners. One community. One shared message: You matter.
Why Gift of Hope Matters
A bag of groceries can help a family through a difficult period.
A pair of slippers can meet a practical need.
A school supply can help a child prepare for class.
A Christmas gift can create a moment of joy.
But the deeper impact is what happens when these acts are delivered consistently and with genuine human connection.
A child learns:
Someone remembers me.
Someone cares about my future.
My community matters.
I matter.
That is the real Gift of Hope.
More Than Giving: Building a Relationship
We do not see Nabuclod simply as a place where we distribute donations.
We see it as a community.
Our members travel to reach the children. Partners help make the project possible. Volunteers help prepare and deliver assistance. Community members welcome us and work with us.
Over time, these repeated encounters create something that cannot be measured simply by pesos spent or packages distributed:
Trust.
And trust is one of the most valuable outcomes of sustainable community service.
The Power of Partnership
Gift of Hope demonstrates what can happen when organizations combine their strengths.
The Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems provides local coordination, volunteers, community connection, project implementation, and on-the-ground support.
The Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation has been a continuing partner in bringing resources and support to the children.
Community members, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and other supporters help make each year’s outreach possible.
No single organization has to do everything.
When we work together, we can reach farther, serve more children, and create a stronger impact.
Seven Years of Commitment
Gift of Hope has now become part of the identity of Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems.
It represents the kind of service we want to be known for:
Not just showing up once—but coming back.
Not just giving things—but building relationships.
Not just counting beneficiaries—but remembering children.
Not just completing projects—but creating lasting partnerships.
Seven years of service has taught us that sustainable impact does not always require a large organization.
It requires people who are willing to care, collaborate, and remain committed.

Help Us Keep the Gift Going
Gift of Hope began with one message.
Seven years later, it has become a continuing commitment to the children of Nabuclod.
But the story is not finished.
We want there to be another year.
Another Christmas.
Another school year.
Another journey into the mountains.
Another child who receives something they need.
Another child who discovers that people believe in them.
And another generation of Kiwanians, volunteers, donors, and partners who choose to carry the work forward.
Help us keep the Gift of Hope going.
