From Local Needs to Humanitarian Response
Sometimes Service Takes Us Beyond Lubao
The Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems is rooted in Lubao, Pampanga.
But service does not always stop at the boundaries of our hometown.
Through partnerships and Kiwanis collaboration, our members have participated in humanitarian efforts that reached communities beyond our immediate area.
One example was the Division 2B humanitarian response following Typhoon Kristine, when Kiwanis clubs came together to respond to communities affected by flooding and landslides in parts of the Philippines.
The response demonstrated something important about Kiwanis:
One club may have limited resources.
Many clubs working together can extend the reach of service.
The Division 2B response brought clubs together in a spirit of bayanihan—sharing resources, manpower and compassion when communities needed help.
For KCLG, participating in collaborative humanitarian service is part of being a Kiwanian.
We do not have to serve alone.

What We Have Learned
Community Service Is Not About Having All the Answers
Over the years, our projects have taught us that communities are different.
Needs are different.
Resources are different.
Circumstances change.
The best response is not always the biggest response.
Sometimes it is the most appropriate one.
Sometimes the right answer is to listen.
Sometimes it is to collaborate.
Sometimes it is to ask another organization for help.
Sometimes it is to change the plan.
And sometimes it is simply to show up.
Good service begins with humility.
Meaningful service continues with partnership.
Our Community. Our Responsibility.
We are proud of what our Kiwanians have accomplished.
Not because every project was large.
Not because every response was perfect.
And not because service is about recognition.
We are proud because ordinary people have repeatedly chosen to give their time, resources and skills to help others.
The current KCLG impact record shows more than 3,000 children served and more than 3,000 service hours in AY 2024–2025 alone, alongside hundreds of thousands of pesos directed toward service projects. Those figures are evidence of collective effort—not the reason for it.

In the wake of one of the most devastating typhoons to hit the northeastern Philippines—Typhoon Kristine—our Kiwanis community under Division 2B rose to the call of service with urgency, compassion, and unity. As widespread flooding and landslides ravaged provinces such as Bicol, Quezon, and Isabela, Kiwanians responded with the purest form of “bayanihan”—the spirit of helping one another without hesitation.
What can we do?
