For the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, our milestones are more than dates, certificates, and awards. They represent people who chose to serve, children who received support, communities that welcomed us, partners who believed in our work, and members who continued to lead even when the work was not easy.
Our journey began with a simple belief:
When people come together to serve children, even a small club can create a meaningful impact.
From our beginnings in Lubao to recognition across the Kiwanis Asia-Pacific community, our story continues to be shaped by service.
The club began with a renewed commitment to Kiwanis’ mission of Serving the Children of the World, guided by the belief that service should be practical, compassionate, and rooted in the needs of the community.
Our early members laid the foundation for a club that would continue to grow through friendship, leadership, and service.
For a young club, the recognition was an important milestone.
But we did not see the award as the destination.
We saw it as encouragement to continue serving.
Recognition gave us encouragement. Service gave us purpose.
2017–2018 — Growing Through Leadership
The club continued to develop its leadership and service capacity and received a Merit Award during Administrative Year 2017–2018.
During this period, founding leader Jesusa “Susan” Uy-Capuli also served in Division 2B leadership, helping connect KCLG with the wider Kiwanis family.
Members began participating in Kiwanis Asia-Pacific activities, expanding their friendships, experiences, and understanding of service beyond Lubao.
2019 — A Legacy and a New Beginning
In 2019, KCLG members continued representing the club and Division 2B at the Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Convention in Taipei, Taiwan.
Later that year, the club lost its founding leader and beloved Kiwanian, Jesusa “Susan” Uy-Capuli.
Her passing became one of the most significant moments in the club’s history.
Strong leadership is not about one person succeeding. It is about helping an entire team succeed.
2021–2023 — Continuing to Serve and Grow
The club continued carrying out community service while developing its membership, leadership, partnerships, and project activities.
Recognition during these years reflected the continuing work of members who kept the club active through changing circumstances.
More importantly, KCLG continued building a culture in which service was not limited to one major annual activity.
Service became a continuing commitment.
2024 — Our Service Reaches the ASPAC Community
March 2024 marked a special milestone.
KCLG’s entry documenting the Division 2B Joint Tree-Planting Project became one of only two finalists in the ASPAC Green Generation Photo Contest presented during the 49th Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Convention in Adelaide, Australia.
That same year, KCLG also launched its official Kiwanis website, creating a permanent digital home for its projects, stories, achievements, members, and community impact.
The website has since become an important tool for preserving the club’s history and connecting KCLG with people beyond Lubao.
2024–2025 — Growing Impact
Administrative Year 2024–2025 became another significant chapter for KCLG.
A decade of service brought with it opportunities to look back with gratitude—and forward with renewed purpose.
The club continued participating in district and Asia-Pacific activities while strengthening its projects and partnerships.
Ten years was not the end of our story.
It was another milestone in a journey that continues.
2026 — A Milestone Year
Administrative Year 2025–2026 became one of the most memorable chapters in KCLG history.
For the first time, the club sent three official delegates to the joint Kiwanis International and Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Convention in Manila, held June 24–27, 2026:
These recognitions are proudly displayed because they document important moments in our journey.
But they do not define why we serve.
WHAT THE AWARDS REPRESENT
An award may have one name on a certificate.
But a service achievement never belongs to one person alone.
Behind every recognition are:
Members who give their time.
Volunteers who show up.
Leaders who organize.
Partners who collaborate.
Sponsors and donors who provide resources.
Community leaders who open their doors.
And most importantly—
children and families whose needs give our service its purpose.
That is why we regard recognition not as the destination, but as a reflection of what people can accomplish when they work together.

OUR JOURNEY
2012 — Where the Story Began
The roots of our story reach back to the original Kiwanis Club of Lubao, established in August 2012.
Although that first chapter eventually came to an end, the desire to serve children did not.
The friendships, experience, and commitment developed during those early years became part of the foundation for what would follow.
2015 — A New Chapter: Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems
On August 1, 2015, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems was chartered.
The club began with a renewed commitment to Kiwanis’ mission of Serving the Children of the World, guided by the belief that service should be practical, compassionate, and rooted in the needs of the community.
Our early members laid the foundation for a club that would continue to grow through friendship, leadership, and service.
2016 — Our First Recognition
Only one year after receiving our charter, KCLG received its first Club Service Award during the Philippine Luzon District Convention.
For a young club, the recognition was an important milestone.
But we did not see the award as the destination.
We saw it as encouragement to continue serving.
Recognition gave us encouragement. Service gave us purpose.
2017–2018 — Growing Through Leadership
The club continued to develop its leadership and service capacity and received a Merit Award during Administrative Year 2017–2018.
During this period, founding leader Jesusa “Susan” Uy-Capuli also served in Division 2B leadership, helping connect KCLG with the wider Kiwanis family.
Members began participating in Kiwanis Asia-Pacific activities, expanding their friendships, experiences, and understanding of service beyond Lubao.
2019 — A Legacy and a New Beginning
In 2019, KCLG members continued representing the club and Division 2B at the Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Convention in Taipei, Taiwan.
Later that year, the club lost its founding leader and beloved Kiwanian, Jesusa “Susan” Uy-Capuli.
Her passing became one of the most significant moments in the club’s history.
Yet her spirit of service continued.
That same year, KCLG launched Gift of Hope, beginning a continuing relationship with the Aeta community of Nabuclod through partnership with the Alexis Louise Quiza Children Foundation.
A difficult year therefore became the beginning of another important chapter in our service story.
2020–2021 — A New Level of Recognition
Administrative Year 2020–2021 brought another major milestone when KCLG received its first Outstanding Club Award.
Member and leader Marilen V. Ramos was also recognized as an Outstanding Lieutenant Governor of the Philippine Luzon District.
Under her Division 2B leadership, multiple clubs in the division received Outstanding Club recognition.
For KCLG, this reinforced an important lesson:

KCLG’s Our Impact video received the Grand Winner recognition in the ASPAC Stories Awards.
The story showcased the people, communities, challenges, generosity, and teamwork behind KCLG’s service.
🏆 Grand Winner — “Why I Joined Kiwanis”
KCLG’s Why I Joined Kiwanis, featuring Past Lieutenant Governor Marilen V. Ramos, also received Grand Winner recognition.
Together, the two recognitions celebrated both sides of KCLG’s story:
the impact we create and the people who choose to serve.
The club’s own reporting identifies these 2026 recognitions as its highest international recognition to date.
