From Better to Best: How Lt. Gov. Rey Bonaobra Transformed Kiwanis Division 2B
The administrative year 2024–2025 was nothing short of transformational for Kiwanis Division 2B under the dynamic leadership of Lieutenant Governor Rey Bonaobra. With the guiding theme “Better to Best,” this term became a true testament to growth, collaboration, and impact — not just within the Division but also across the Kiwanis community.
A Strong Start to Leadership
The year began with Club Leadership Education (CLE) on July 13, 2024, followed by the Turnover Ceremony and Club Presidents Conference on September 21, 2024, attended by all eight (8) club presidents. From the onset, Lt. Gov. Rey laid out the five strategic priorities for his term, with a bold focus on membership growth and engagement.
The strategy proved successful: Division 2B grew from 130 members to 173, an impressive 43-member increase, making membership one of the biggest highlights of the year.
Strengthening Membership & Engagement
Reports & Compliance: 7 out of 8 clubs consistently submitted reports through the KI Portal and ENGAGE platform.
Elections: All election reports were completed on time in June 2025.
Convention Participation: Division 2B proudly sent representatives to major events:
ASPAC Convention in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (March 2025)
Kiwanis International Convention in Pittsburgh, USA (June 2025)
With a strong 23 delegates registered for the District Convention in Tagaytay (September 2025).
Leadership & Education: Building Stronger Clubs
Leadership development was a cornerstone of the term:
CLE Training (July 13, 2024) ensured leaders were well-prepared.
Club Presidents Planning Conference (September 21, 2024) united presidents to align strategies.
Division Council Meetings (DCMs): 11 regular meetings and 4 extra online emergency sessions were conducted — exceeding the standard 10 meetings per year.
A milestone 5th DCM was even held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the first-ever inter-island meeting of the Division.
The term concluded with a memorable “term-end” party on July 27, 2025, hosted at Green Meadow Resort in Bataan — a joyful celebration of unity and accomplishment.
Community Impact: Projects that Made a Difference
Division 2B made its mark in communities through both signature and joint projects:
Kiwanis One Day (Nov 26, 2024): Tree planting of 250 saplings and gift-giving for 105 students in Pampanga.
Kiwanis Week (Jan 20–26, 2025): Celebrated the 110th anniversary of Kiwanis International and the 50th year of the Philippine Luzon District with a wreath-laying ceremony, community feeding, gift-giving, and culminating in the glamorous Kiwanis Night at Solaire, Manila.
Balik-Eskwela Project (Tarlac): Despite rains and slippery trails, Kiwanians reached 120 students in Sitio Dueg, San Clemente, Tarlac bringing supplies and hope.
Relief Operations (Bacolor, Pampanga): 134 families received food and hygiene packs, while 528 children and adults were given snacks and support.
Additionally, 7 out of 8 clubs executed their own signature projects and actively supported Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) like BUG and Terrific Kids, honoring deserving students during graduations.
Branding & Visibility
Division 2B amplified its presence with motorcades, tarpaulins, and Facebook page promotions updated weekly.
Articles were also featured in Ang Kiwanian’s page, strengthening the Division’s visibility and recruitment drive.

All clubs successfully paid their dues for AY 2024–2025.
Division 2B clubs earned 2Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Early Bird Awards at Kiwanis Night, showing strong fiscal discipline.
Unity Through Celebrations

Induction and Installation Ceremony (Nov 28, 2024, Clark Royal Hotel): Led by Lieutenant Governor Rey, new officers and members were inducted, with District leaders such as Governor Felix Grepo, PDG Melvin Mendoza, Governor-elect Atty. Aleta Tolentino, and Governor-designate Dr. Nel Espino gracing the event.
The emotional highlight was when old and new members sang “You Light Up My Life” and “If We Hold On Together” while holding hands, a cherished Kiwanis tradition that symbolizes unity and hope.
Division Conference (May 2025, Kiwanis Lodge, Angeles City): Another milestone where Division 2B proudly hosted top district leaders, reaffirming its strength and solidarity.
