UNITED IN SERVICE: Division 2B Clubs Bring Hope to Flood-Affected Families in Bacolor
When disaster strikes, unity in service becomes the strongest source of hope. On July 29, 2025, the eight Kiwanis Clubs of Division 2B proved exactly that by coming together for a major relief operation in Barangay Tinajero, Bacolor, Pampanga. This collaborative effort brought immediate aid to families and children severely affected by flooding caused by continuous monsoon rains and a recent typhoon.
Rising Above the Flood: A Community in Need
The floodwaters in Bacolor rose to dangerous levels—reaching over four feet, submerging homes, and displacing families who sought refuge at the barangay covered court. With 134 families left vulnerable and 528 individuals, including many children, struggling in temporary shelters, urgent action was needed.
The atmosphere in the evacuation center was heavy with uncertainty—muddy surroundings, soaked belongings, and weary faces told a story of hardship. But when Kiwanis volunteers arrived with food, water, and essential supplies, hope began to shine through. Smiles slowly replaced worry as families realized they were not alone.
What Kiwanis Delivered
The relief operation provided: ✔ 134 grocery packs with ready-to-eat food for displaced families and hygiene kits ✔ Snacks and bottled water for 528 individuals, both children and adults
This initiative was spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra and powered by the unified efforts of the following clubs:
Kiwanis Club of Angeles City
Kiwanis Club of Bacolor
Kiwanis Club of Guagua New Generation
Kiwanis Club of Kuliat
Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems
Kiwanis Club of Mariveles
Kiwanis Club of Metro Tarlac
Kiwanis Club of Tres Heneracion
Strong Partnerships Make Stronger Impact
This successful service project would not have been possible without the generous support of partners and donors:
Kiwanis Funds from the Philippine Luzon District
PLD District Governor-Elect Atty. AletaTolentino, a proud Kapampangan, whose support amplified this effort
Pampanga State University (PSU)
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Bacolor
Barangay Officials of Tinajero, Bacolor, Pampanga
Their assistance in resources, logistics, and coordination amplified the reach and impact of this mission, proving that service knows no boundaries when hearts unite for a cause.
A Message of Hope from Lt. Gov. Reynaldo M. Bonaobra
“Today, we have proven that true service knows no boundaries. When disaster struck, Kiwanis Division 2B did not hesitate—we united, we acted, and we served. This relief mission is more than just giving aid; it is a message of hope, compassion, and solidarity. Together, we bring light to the darkest days for the children and families who need us most. Let this remind us all: as long as there are communities in need, Kiwanis will always be there—Serving the Children of the World.” — Lt. Gov. Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, Division 2B
More Than Relief—A Message of Hope
For the evacuees, this aid was more than just supplies—it was a lifeline of compassion and solidarity. One mother expressed, “We had nothing left, and we were soaked and scared for days. Seeing people come here to help us, especially for the children, gives us strength to go on.”
For Kiwanis volunteers, the day was both humbling and inspiring. Witnessing the gratitude of families strengthened their commitment to the Kiwanis mission: Serving the Children of the World—not only in good times but especially in times of crisis.
Together, We Make a Difference
This relief operation reflects the very heart of Kiwanis: service, unity, and the relentless drive to make communities stronger. As the waters recede and recovery begins, Division 2B Kiwanians stand ready to continue helping Bacolor and other communities rise again.
