Summit of Smiles: Kiwanis Outreach to 152 Children of Dueg Resettlement School, Tarlac

The spirit of service traveled 90 kilometers to the mountainous community of Dueg Resettlement School in Dueg, San Clemente, Tarlac, where 151 underprivileged students were reached through a meaningful Kiwanis outreach project. What began as a long journey became a powerful reminder that distance is never a barrier when the mission is to serve children in need.

Initiated by Kiwanis Club of Metro Tarlac, the project gathered the strength of eight Kiwanis clubs, united by one purpose: to uplift young lives in a remote and underserved area. This marks the second outreach mission to Dueg, reinforcing a sustained commitment to children who deserve consistent care and support—not just one-time assistance.

Bringing Joy Beyond the Mountains

The students of Dueg Resettlement School received snacks, candy treats, food packs, and slippers, along with the simple but priceless gift of attention and encouragement. Laughter echoed across the school grounds as games were played, friendships were formed, and children experienced a day centered entirely around them.

For many of these children, living in a geographically isolated and economically challenged community presents daily obstacles. Yet on this day, their smiles reflected hope. The outreach did more than provide material support—it strengthened their sense of belonging and reminded them that they are not forgotten.

“When service climbs mountains, hope reaches higher.”

The Impact of Community Service in Remote Areas

Service projects in resettlement and mountainous communities create tangible and lasting impact:

  • Address immediate needs such as food and basic footwear
  • Encourage school attendance and student morale
  • Strengthen partnerships among service organizations
  • Promote sustained engagement with underserved communities
  • Inspire volunteers and local leaders to continue outreach efforts

The collaboration of nine Kiwanis clubs demonstrated the power of collective leadership and shared commitment. By working together, the impact multiplied—proving that unity in service produces greater results.

Serving the Children of the World

This outreach reflects the core Kiwanis mission: serving the children of the world. Whether in urban centers or remote mountain villages, the call remains the same—to show up, to care, and to act.

The children of Dueg may live far from the city, but their dreams are just as big. With every visit, every pair of slippers, and every shared meal, those dreams are affirmed and strengthened.

Be Part of the Next Journey

Projects like this are made possible by volunteers and partners who believe that no child should be left behind. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back, consider supporting future outreach programs or joining Kiwanis.

Together, we can continue crossing distances, climbing mountains, and creating more summits of smiles—one child, one school, and one community at a time.
