The Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems shines brightly! Our club is a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength in our community, dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of children. We are more than just a group; we are a family united by a common goal.
Our hearts beat with the Kiwanis International mission – to improve the lives of children, one community at a time. This mission drives us to go above and beyond, to reach out to every child in need, and to ensure that no child is left behind. We believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed.
For decades, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems has stood as a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable members of our society—children. From providing assistance to abandoned, unwanted, and disabled children to supporting those who are economically disadvantaged, the club’s legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment.
A Foundation Built on Compassion
Founded with the vision of helping children, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems has channeled its efforts toward ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has a chance for a better future. The club’s dedication to service is especially evident in its initiatives aimed at underprivileged children, many of whom face challenges such as poverty, neglect, or disability.
Parenting is one of life’s most profound and fulfilling experiences. As your child grows, each stage presents a mix of excitement, learning, and unique challenges. But which age is truly the most enjoyable? Recent surveys offer insight—and more importantly, practical advice for savoring each moment with your child.
Discovering the Most Delightful Stage of Childhood
A recent UK survey of 2,000 parents revealed that age five is considered the most enjoyable stage in a child’s development. At this age, children are expressive, imaginative, eager to learn, and full of wonder. Their sense of humor begins to shine, and they’re more independent without the complications of adolescence.
On the other hand, parents often find the tween years (ages 10–12) more challenging due to mood shifts, increased independence, and peer pressure.
Why Age Five Stands Out
Expressive and Engaging: Five-year-olds can communicate effectively, leading to deeper, more playful conversations.
Creative and Curious: Their vivid imaginations make for entertaining and meaningful play.
Open to Guidance: While learning boundaries, they remain receptive to rules and routines.
Enthusiastic Learners: They absorb knowledge quickly and enjoy new discoveries.
How to Embrace Every Age with Purpose
Rather than waiting for the “perfect” phase, parents can find joy in every stage by being intentional and adaptive. Here’s how:
1. Be Fully Present
Set aside time to be with your child—unplugged and undistracted. These moments create lifelong memories.
2. Celebrate Progress
From first words to first goals, every milestone deserves recognition. These affirm your child’s growth and your role in it.
3. Cultivate Trust through Communication
Create a safe space for open dialogue. Listening without judgment builds emotional security.
4. Adapt Your Parenting Approach
What works for a toddler may not work for a teen. Evolve your strategies to meet your child where they are.
5. Invest in Self-Care
You can’t pour from an empty cup. Caring for your physical and emotional health allows you to parent with patience and purpose.
Closing Thoughts
While age five may capture the hearts of many parents, every stage brings opportunities for joy, connection, and growth. By remaining present, adaptable, and emotionally engaged, you can nurture a rich, fulfilling relationship with your child—no matter their age.

Nestled within the quiet walls of the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) is a sanctuary for children whose lives have been marked by abandonment, neglect, and unimaginable hardship. These children, many of whom have experienced profound emotional and physical trauma, are given a second chance at life through the tireless efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems. Among its many initiatives, one project has struck a particularly profound chord in the lives of these children: the Gift of Music project.
Launched in January 2024, the Gift of Music signature project exemplifies the heart and mission of Kiwanis—to serve the children of the world. Through weekly music lessons, the program provides a safe and nurturing space for RSCC’s children to explore their creativity, build confidence, and heal from their past experiences. The centerpiece of this initiative is the ukulele, a simple yet powerful instrument donated by a generous benefactor. For the children, the ukulele is more than just a tool for music; it is a gateway to self-expression, discipline, and joy.
The Transformative Power of Music
Music has long been recognized as a universal language—a bridge that connects people across cultures, ages, and experiences. For the children of RSCC, music has become a means of reclaiming their voices and identities. Studies have shown that music can have therapeutic effects, fostering emotional resilience, improving mental health, and enhancing cognitive development. This project harnesses these benefits to provide not only a creative outlet but also a path toward healing and self-discovery.
Under the guidance of a dedicated music teacher, the children meet weekly to learn the basics of playing the ukulele. These sessions are filled with laughter, determination, and moments of triumph as they master new chords and melodies. The snacks provided during each session serve as a small yet meaningful gesture, reminding the children that their well-being is cherished. Over time, the lessons have instilled discipline, teamwork, and a sense of achievement in these young learners.
Evaluating Its Impact
The Gift of Music signature project has transformed the lives of RSCC’s children in measurable ways. Participants have shown increased confidence, improved social interaction, and enhanced emotional well-being. One shy child now confidently leads group performances, while another has discovered a passion for music that has inspired personal growth. The community has also felt the ripple effects, as the children’s performances inspire hope and demonstrate the profound impact of compassion and creativity. The program not only benefits the children directly involved but also uplifts everyone who witnesses their progress and joy.
What Makes the Club Experience Valuable for Members?
For members of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, the experience of contributing to such a transformative project is deeply rewarding. Being part of a global organization dedicated to serving children provides members with a sense of purpose and fulfillment. The Gift of Music project, in particular, allows members to see the tangible results of their efforts—from the smiles of children mastering a new song to the applause of audiences moved by their performances. Members also value the camaraderie and shared mission within the club, which fosters a strong sense of community and mutual support. This combination of meaningful impact and personal connection makes the Kiwanis experience invaluable.
What Does the Club Do and Why Does It Exist?
The Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems exists to serve the most vulnerable members of society—children in need. Guided by the global mission of Kiwanis International, the club focuses on creating opportunities for growth, healing, and empowerment for underprivileged children. Whether through educational initiatives, community outreach, or projects like the Gift of Music, the club works tirelessly to ensure that every child has the chance to thrive. The club’s existence is rooted in the belief that every child deserves to be nurtured, supported, and given the tools to build a brighter future.
Impact Beyond Music
The Gift of Music project is more than just an arts initiative; it is a lifeline for children who have known only hardship. By engaging in music, they build confidence and discover their intrinsic worth. One child, who once struggled with severe shyness, now eagerly participates in group sessions, even leading sing-alongs with peers. Another, who faced challenges expressing emotions, has found solace in strumming the ukulele, using it as a medium to convey feelings too difficult to articulate.
The ripple effects of this project extend beyond the RSCC. During guests’ visits at the center, these children have begun performing for guests, showcasing not only their newfound talents but also their resilience and courage. Their performances inspire others, demonstrating the transformative power of compassion and the arts.
A Call to Sustain the Melody
While the Gift of Music project has achieved remarkable success, its future depends on continued support. To sustain the program for another six months, funds are needed to cover the music teacher’s stipend and the children’s weekly snacks. The vision is clear: to see these children flourish, to hear them perform as a cohesive ensemble, and to witness their pride in sharing their music with the world.
This project embodies the essence of Kiwanis—bringing people together to serve the children who need it most. The smiles of RSCC’s children, the confidence in their voices, and the joy in their music are testaments to the impact of collective generosity and unwavering commitment.
Why This Project Deserves Recognition
The Gift of Music project is not just a program; it is a beacon of hope. It highlights the beauty of humanity’s ability to uplift and transform lives through simple yet profound acts of kindness. By investing in the emotional and creative development of underprivileged children, this initiative creates a legacy of empowerment and resilience.
This Signature Project
This signature project of Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems spotlights the boundless potential of children when given the opportunity to thrive. It reinforces the belief that every child, regardless of their past, deserves to dream, to create, and to succeed.
In the words of one young participant, “When I play music, I feel happy, like I can do anything.” That is the power of this project. It gives these children not just music, but a melody of hope and a symphony of possibilities.
Together, let us ensure that the music never stops.
The air buzzes with energy as leaders of Division 2B gather each month for the much-anticipated Division Council Meeting (DCM). Under the dynamic leadership of Lieutenant Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, these gatherings are more than just meetings—they are celebrations of camaraderie, unity, and our shared mission to serve the children.
Every month, one of the clubs in the division takes on the role of host, transforming the venue into a hub of collaboration and fellowship. The meetings begin with earnest discussions about how to improve our service projects and bring our ideas to life. Whether brainstorming new initiatives or refining current ones, each voice contributes to our shared goal of making a lasting impact on the lives of children.
Fun, Fellowship, and Adventure in Leadership
Being a Kiwanian means being part of something larger than yourself. The DCMs are a perfect example of this spirit. Leaders from different clubs come together as friends, united by their passion for service. The lively exchanges of ideas are punctuated with laughter, encouragement, and the occasional lighthearted joke, making the atmosphere both productive and enjoyable.
A hallmark of our meetings is the fellowship that follows. It’s more than just sharing a meal—though the food is always delicious! Fellowship often includes bonding likesinging, swimming, endless chitchats, and creating cherished memories together.
One of the most exciting aspects is the opportunity to travel to beautiful destinations like Palawan for certain DCMs. Everyone eagerly anticipates the chance to blend leadership with adventure. The experience of strengthening relationships amidst Palawan’s stunning scenery makes the effort and expense worthwhile. Whether exploring beaches, bonding over shared experiences, or simply enjoying the journey, these trips bring our team closer and leave lasting memories.
The Wisdom of Elders and the Spirit of Unity
A special highlight of our meetings is the presence of the elders of Division 2B. These seasoned Kiwanians, who have dedicated decades to serving through Kiwanis, provide invaluable guidance and wisdom. Their stories of perseverance and triumph inspire newer members to lead with integrity and compassion.
The bond among Kiwanians is truly unique. Everyone treats each other with warmth and respect, creating a culture of genuine camaraderie. This mutual support strengthens our division and helps us tackle challenges with confidence.
Good Leadership: A Kiwanian Legacy
At the heart of every successful service project is strong leadership, and the Division Council Meetings are a testament to this. Good leaders are not just decision-makers; they are collaborators, motivators, and friends. The DCMs give us the opportunity to learn from each other, grow as leaders, and refine our approach to serving the children.
Leadership in Kiwanis is not a solitary journey but a shared adventure. It’s about working hand in hand, lifting each other up, and focusing on our common cause.
Proud to Be a Kiwanian
Every DCM reminds us of why we joined Kiwanis: to make a difference in the lives of children while building meaningful relationships along the way. It’s a source of pride to be part of a group where each member is committed to serving with joy and dedication.

On December 21, 2024, the serene and lush mountains of Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga, came alive with the laughter and joy of children as the Gift of Hope project reached its 6th remarkable year. This heartwarming initiative, a collaborative effort of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems (KC-Lubao Gems) and the Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation (ALQCF), brought smiles, hope, and practical assistance to the underprivileged Aeta children of the Nabuclod Integrated School.
A Vibrant Venue Buzzing with Excitement
The venue was teeming with children, their eyes sparkling with anticipation. These curly-haired, darker-skinned children, members of the Aeta community, embody resilience amidst the challenges of underprivileged living conditions. On this special day, their expressions of joy and curiosity were contagious as they eagerly waited to discover the gifts prepared just for them.
The Gift of Hope event was more than a distribution of items; it was a celebration of community, kindness, and empowerment. A total of 607 children, the entire population of the school, were beneficiaries of this fun-filled day.
A Community Effort of Care and Compassion
The day began with the arrival of Ms. Odette Ricasa, a distinguished representative of ALQCF who traveled all the way from Manila to witness and take part in this inspiring event. Ms. Ricasa, known as the first Filipina to travel the world, has explored over 195 countries and represents the spirit of service and adventure. Her radiant smile lit up the event as she cheered for the children performing on stage, a testament to her commitment to the foundation’s mission of uplifting young lives.
The Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation, based in Los Angeles, California, was established with the vision of supporting underprivileged children worldwide. Named in honor of Alexis Louise Quiza, the foundation tirelessly works to provide resources, education, and hope for a brighter future. It is through their unwavering support that the Gift of Hope project continues to thrive.
A Day of Joyful Giving
KC-Lubao Gems meticulously prepared for the event, ensuring every child received the care and attention they deserved. School supplies, essential tools for education, were thoughtfully packaged, while slippers, outsourced with care, were provided to ensure a proper fit. To add a touch of sweetness, tetra packs of flavored milk were distributed to 250 select children, spreading both nourishment and delight.
The children climbed the stage one by one, their wide grins a testament to the excitement of receiving their gifts. The school supplies, the perfect slippers, and the tasty milk became symbols of a community’s care and a foundation’s commitment. The joy of giving resonated in every corner of the venue, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and hope.
Gratitude and Hope for the Future
The Gift of Hope project was a resounding success, made possible by the dedication and compassion of all involved. Special thanks go to ALQCF for their unwavering support and to the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems for their meticulous preparation and execution.
As the day ended and the children returned home, their laughter still echoed in the mountains of Nabuclod. The smiles on their faces and the hope in their hearts affirmed the transformative power of kindness.
We are excited and optimistic about the future of this service project, eager to see it continue and expand in the years to come. Together, with the Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation and our community partners, we will keep bringing the Gift of Hope to the children of Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga, year after year.
Here’s to many more years of spreading joy, hope, and empowerment!

Trees are the lungs of our planet, and planting them is one of the simplest yet most impactful acts of service we can offer to future generations. This statement captured the spirit of the event as Kiwanians from Division 2B gathered on November 16, 2024, to celebrate the annual Kiwanis One Day—a global initiative uniting volunteers in meaningful service projects to improve communities, protect the environment, and positively impact children’s lives. Mr. Tayag is a staunch environmentalist in the province of Pampanga and donated 250 seedlings for the Kiwanis One Day Treeplanting project.
Held on November 16, 2024, this year’s Kiwanis One Day celebrated a remarkable environmental initiative. Originally scheduled for October 26, 2024, the event was postponed due to multiple typhoons. However, the new date proved fortuitous as Kiwanians from Division 2B came together under clear skies despite Typhoon Signal No. 2 from Super Typhoon Pepito, allowing for a safe and successful day of activities.
Division 2B Joins Philippine Luzon District’s Call for 20,000 Seedlings
In response to the Philippine Luzon District (PLD) Governor Felix “Jango” Grepo’s call to plant 20,000 seedlings for Kiwanis One Day, Division 2B planted 250 seedlings, reinforcing their commitment to environmental sustainability. This significant contribution began with a vibrant motorcade led by Lieutenant Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, starting from Santo Niño, Lubao, Pampanga. Participants from eight Kiwanis clubs gathered to celebrate their shared mission.
Tree Planting: A Commitment to Nature and the Next Generation
The tree-planting event took place at Sta. Teresa 1st Gumain Riverbank,Lubao, Pampanga, a protected area designated to prevent land erosion caused by quarrying and to ensure a healthier environment for future generations. Kiwanians planted 250 seedlings with the help of students from Del Carmen National High School (DCNHS), who eagerly participated in the activity.
ARAW-ACI, led by Chairman Mr. Renato “Abong” Tayag, Jr. supported the initiative with a generous donation of 250 seedlings, including Narra, Pili, Bamboo, Sampalok, Guyabano, and Atis varieties. Some of these seedlings were planted at the riverbank, while others were donated to DCNHS, where students and teachers committed to nurturing them.
Mrs. Minerva Arceo, also from ARAW-ACI, emphasized the significance of planting trees for environmental protection and as a safeguard for children’s future. “Every tree planted today is a promise of a brighter, greener future for generations to come,” she said. Mrs. Arceo also commended the Kiwanians for their dedication and acknowledging the vital role of trees in preserving the environment for children.
Students from DCNHS eagerly joined in the tree-planting initiative, guided by their teachers, showcasing their dedication to both education and the environment.
One student remarked: “It’s amazing to know that the trees we plant today will grow with us. Thank you, Kiwanis, for teaching us how to care for nature and for the gifts that will help us in school.”
Lt. Governor Reynaldo Bonaobra expressed his gratitude for the collective effort, stating: “Every seedling planted today represents our commitment to a greener, healthier tomorrow for the children we serve and the communities we cherish.”
Legacy of Service at Del Carmen National High School
After the tree planting, Kiwanians gathered at DCNHS for a short program. The DCNHS Choir performed the National Anthem and the Kiwanis Hymn, setting an inspiring tone for the event. School Principal Jonar L. Naluz expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support Kiwanis has provided over the past decade, as DCNHS is an adopted school of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems.
The program included a lively gift-giving ceremony, where students received school supplies, tumblers, umbrellas, canned goods, toys, and hygiene kits. Snacks was also provided from the much-loved Filipino burger chain, Jolibee. The smiles on the children’s faces showcased the tangible impact of Kiwanis’ generosity and dedication.
To make the day even more memorable, traditional Filipino games (Palarong Pinoy) such as Tug of War, Luksong Baka, Sack Race, Chinese Garter, Palayok, Jak en Poy, and Agawan ng Panyo were held. The energy and laughter of students filled the venue, with Kiwanis volunteers joining in the fun. KC-Lubao Gems sponsored the Tug of War game, further cementing their connection with the students. The joy and excitement in the students’ faces underscored the importance of blending fun with meaningful service.
Principal Naluz extended his gratitude during the opening remarks, highlighting the ongoing impact of Kiwanis’ efforts on the school’s students. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was also signed to ensure the long-term care of the planted trees.
Principal Naluz shared his heartfelt thanks: “For nearly 10 years, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems has been a beacon of hope for our school. The support you bring not only uplifts our students but inspires them to dream bigger and aim higher.”
ARAW-ACI Partnership and Ongoing Commitment
ARAW-ACI’s partnership extended beyond their donation of seedlings. Their continued involvement in Kiwanis initiatives signals a shared commitment to sustainable development and community service. This collaboration ensures that the efforts of both organizations will have a long-lasting impact.
Why Kiwanis One Day Matters
Kiwanis One Day is more than a day of service; it’s a global movement uniting thousands of volunteers worldwide to address pressing community needs.
