Passing the Torch, Building Up for Greater Impact: Kiwanis Division 2B Turnover Ceremony & Planning Conference 2024

The Kiwanis Division 2B Philippine Luzon District marked a significant milestone on September 21, 2024, with the Turnover Ceremony held at Lourdes, Lubao, Pampanga. The event celebrated the handover of leadership from Outgoing Lt. Governor Maria Theresa S. Dizon of the “Light Up, Kiwanis” term to Incoming Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra of the “Better to Best, Building Up” term.

Symbol of Service and Leadership

In the solemn tradition of Kiwanis, the gong and gavel — symbols of responsibility, authority, and service — were passed from outgoing to incoming leaders. The ceremony reflected the Kiwanis commitment to continuity, unity, and unwavering service to children and communities.

Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in him and shared his excitement to lead Division 2B closer to its mission:

“Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. We are dedicated, and we give generously of our time and resources to help children. We make communities stronger by connecting many people and organizations for a greater good.”

Kiwanis Strategic Roadmap for 2024–2025

Following the turnover, the Club Presidents Planning Conference was held with the 8 clubs of Division 2B:

  • Kiwanis Club of Angeles City
  • Kiwanis Club of Bacolor
  • Kiwanis Club of Guagua New Generation
  • Kiwanis Club of Kuliat
  • Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems
  • Kiwanis Club of Mariveles
  • Kiwanis Club of Metro Tarlac
  • Kiwanis Club of Tres Heneracion

Lt. Gov. Rey introduced the 5 Strategic Priorities of Kiwanis International, customized for the Division’s goals:

  1. Membership and Engagement – Grow and retain members through meaningful involvement.
  2. Leadership and Education – Develop capable leaders through training and mentoring.
  3. Community Impact – Expand and enhance service projects to improve children’s lives.
  4. Branding and Image – Strengthen Kiwanis’ visibility and public recognition.
  5. Financial Viability – Ensure resources to sustain long-term service initiatives.

These priorities serve as a blueprint for clubs to maximize service impact, strengthen leadership, and ensure sustainability.

Recognizing Pillars of Service

A highlight of the event was the awarding of the Kiwanis Pillars Fellowship Awards, presented to the Division’s oldest clubs for decades of continuous service:

  • KC-Angeles CityPillar 40 for 49 years in service
  • KC-MarivelesPillar 40 for 42 years in service
  • KC-KuliatPillar 30 for 33 years in service

Together, these clubs represent 124 years of combined service — a testament to Division 2B’s resilience and dedication to children.

A Fellowship of Purpose

The atmosphere was warm and celebratory, with heartfelt conversations, shared laughter, and strengthened friendships. Veteran members inspired new leaders, and the Division left united with a renewed sense of purpose under LG Rey Bonaobra’s leadership.

The day closed not just as a ceremony, but as a call to action — to build from better to best, and to continue being a beacon of hope for children and communities in need.
