Making History: Division 2B’s First-Ever Inter-Island Division Council Meeting in Puerto Princesa, Palawan
A Historic First for Division 2B and Philippine Luzon District
For the first time in its history — and possibly the history of the Philippine Luzon District (PLD) — Division 2B held its Division Council Meeting (DCM) beyond its home provinces of Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac. On February 8–11, 2025, 32 Kiwanians made their way to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, a destination accessible only via air or sea from their region, for an unprecedented inter-island gathering.
This long-envisioned plan had been discussed in past terms but never materialized — until now. Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, together with the support and general consensus of Division 2B club leaders, finally brought the vision to life. The excitement was palpable, not only because of the destination’s allure, but also due to the historic nature of the event.
Commitment and Camaraderie at Its Finest
Every attending Kiwanian personally shouldered their airfare, accommodations, and even tour expenses — a testament to their commitment. Thanks to the connections of Past Lt. Governor Owen Fuertes, lodging was arranged through local friends, helping reduce costs without compromising comfort.
When the group landed in Puerto Princesa on February 8, a light rain greeted them on the tarmac. But the weather did nothing to dampen the high spirits. That evening, the fellowship began with bonding and karaoke-singing — a night filled with laughter, camaraderie, and genuine connection.
A Productive and United DCM
The following day, the official Division Council Meeting commenced with all 8 clubs represented, ensuring quorum was met. Important agendas were discussed and resolved, marking the meeting as both productive and historic. This was not just a council meeting; it was a testament to the unity and determination of Division 2B.
Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra expressed his deep gratitude to every Kiwanian who made the trip, emphasizing that their presence and participation turned a long-standing dream into a successful reality.
Fellowship, Island Hopping, and Shared Purpose
Once the business was done, the adventure continued with island-hopping tours that showcased Palawan’s world-famous natural beauty. The bonding deepened as Kiwanians explored together, strengthening not just professional ties but personal friendships.
Evenings were filled with more fellowship — shared meals, heartfelt conversations, and celebratory moments. The following morning, some members flew back to attend to their families, businesses, classrooms, and studies, while others extended their stay for up to four days to enjoy more of Palawan.
More Than a Meeting — A Milestone in Division 2B’s Story
This first-ever inter-island DCM was more than a logistical achievement; it was a symbol of resilience, collaboration, and shared mission. By bridging not only geographic distance but also club-to-club relationships, Division 2B set a new precedent for what is possible in the Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District.
It proved that when Kiwanians come together with a shared purpose, no distance is too far, no challenge too great, and no vision too ambitious.
