“Gift of Hope” Year 7: Honoring Culture, Hope, and Service Among the Aeta Children of Nabuclod

Seven Years of Hope for the Aeta Children of Nabuclod

For the seventh consecutive year, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, in partnership with Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation (ALQCF), returned to the mountain community of Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga to deliver the Gift of Hope—a service project that has grown into a deeply meaningful tradition for the Aeta children and educators it serves.

This year’s outreach reached the entire student population of 602 learners, from Kinder to Senior High School, affirming ALQCF and Kiwanis’s unwavering commitment to Serving the Children of the World—especially those in indigenous and underserved communities.

A Cultural Performance That Touched Every Heart

One of the most moving moments of the day was the tribal Aeta dance performance presented by the students. Through graceful yet powerful movements, the children narrated the story of their culture—from courtship and marriage, to childbirth, and finally to death—a profound reminder of the richness, resilience, and identity of the Aeta people.

Many in the audience—Kiwanians of Lubao Gems and representatives from ALQCF—were visibly moved. The performance was more than entertainment; it was a heartfelt expression of heritage, pride, and gratitude. In that moment, service met culture, and understanding deepened.

Joy in Every Smile: Food, Gifts, and Celebration

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and laughter. The joyful noise of children—running, cheering, and calling out—was truly music to the ears, a sound that reminded every volunteer why they serve.

  • Jollibee snacks were distributed to all students, warmly appreciated by teachers as it ensured children had food to enjoy between Christmas party activities—without teachers having to shoulder the expense.
  • Loot bags filled with sweets brought delight to every learner.
  • Grade 1 students received pajamas, offering warmth and comfort.
  • Senior High School students were gifted wristwatches, symbolizing time, responsibility, and the bright futures ahead of them.

These simple yet thoughtful gifts made the celebration meaningful and inclusive for every child.

ALQCF: Seven Years of Trust and Generosity

None of this would have been possible without the continued generosity and trust of ALQCF, now on its 7th year of partnership with the Gift of Hope.

This year, ALQCF once again footed the Jollibee snacks and further strengthened the school’s resources by donating:

  • One (1) printer, following another printer donated in 2024, and
  • Eight (8) boxes of A4 bond paper, supporting teachers in their daily instructional needs.

These contributions go beyond one-day outreach—they empower educators and improve learning conditions long after the celebration ends.

Kiwanis in Action: Service Rooted in Compassion

The presence of Kiwanians of Lubao Gems alongside ALQCF representatives reflected a partnership built on shared values: compassion, respect, and sustained service. Year after year, the Gift of Hope proves that when organizations and volunteers work together, impact becomes deeper and more lasting.

This is the heart of Kiwanis—not just giving, but showing up consistently, listening, and walking alongside communities as they grow.

A Call to Serve, A Call to Belong

The smiles of the children, the pride in their cultural performance, and the laughter echoing through the school grounds are reminders that service changes lives—both for those who receive and those who give.
