From Better to Best: How Lt. Gov. Rey Bonaobra Transformed Kiwanis Division 2B

The administrative year 2024–2025 was nothing short of transformational for Kiwanis Division 2B under the dynamic leadership of Lieutenant Governor Rey Bonaobra. With the guiding theme “Better to Best,” this term became a true testament to growth, collaboration, and impact — not just within the Division but also across the Kiwanis community.

A Strong Start to Leadership

The year began with Club Leadership Education (CLE) on July 13, 2024, followed by the Turnover Ceremony and Club Presidents Conference on September 21, 2024, attended by all eight (8) club presidents. From the onset, Lt. Gov. Rey laid out the five strategic priorities for his term, with a bold focus on membership growth and engagement.

The strategy proved successful: Division 2B grew from 130 members to 173, an impressive 43-member increase, making membership one of the biggest highlights of the year.

Strengthening Membership & Engagement

  • Reports & Compliance: 7 out of 8 clubs consistently submitted reports through the KI Portal and ENGAGE platform.
  • Elections: All election reports were completed on time in June 2025.
  • Convention Participation: Division 2B proudly sent representatives to major events:
    • ASPAC Convention in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (March 2025)
    • Kiwanis International Convention in Pittsburgh, USA (June 2025)
    • With a strong 23 delegates registered for the District Convention in Tagaytay (September 2025).

Leadership & Education: Building Stronger Clubs

Leadership development was a cornerstone of the term:

  • CLE Training (July 13, 2024) ensured leaders were well-prepared.
  • Club Presidents Planning Conference (September 21, 2024) united presidents to align strategies.
  • Division Council Meetings (DCMs): 11 regular meetings and 4 extra online emergency sessions were conducted — exceeding the standard 10 meetings per year.
  • A milestone 5th DCM was even held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the first-ever inter-island meeting of the Division.
  • The term concluded with a memorable “term-end” party on July 27, 2025, hosted at Green Meadow Resort in Bataan — a joyful celebration of unity and accomplishment.

Community Impact: Projects that Made a Difference

Division 2B made its mark in communities through both signature and joint projects:

  • Kiwanis One Day (Nov 26, 2024): Tree planting of 250 saplings and gift-giving for 105 students in Pampanga.
  • Kiwanis Week (Jan 20–26, 2025): Celebrated the 110th anniversary of Kiwanis International and the 50th year of the Philippine Luzon District with a wreath-laying ceremony, community feeding, gift-giving, and culminating in the glamorous Kiwanis Night at Solaire, Manila.
  • Balik-Eskwela Project (Tarlac): Despite rains and slippery trails, Kiwanians reached 120 students in Sitio Dueg, San Clemente, Tarlac bringing supplies and hope.
  • Relief Operations (Bacolor, Pampanga): 134 families received food and hygiene packs, while 528 children and adults were given snacks and support.

Additionally, 7 out of 8 clubs executed their own signature projects and actively supported Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) like BUG and Terrific Kids, honoring deserving students during graduations.

Branding & Visibility

  • Division 2B amplified its presence with motorcades, tarpaulins, and Facebook page promotions updated weekly.
  • Articles were also featured in Ang Kiwanian’s page, strengthening the Division’s visibility and recruitment drive.

Financial Viability

  • All clubs successfully paid their dues for AY 2024–2025.
  • Division 2B clubs earned 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Early Bird Awards at Kiwanis Night, showing strong fiscal discipline.

Unity Through Celebrations

The year also brought significant milestones for camaraderie:

  • Induction and Installation Ceremony (Nov 28, 2024, Clark Royal Hotel): Led by Lieutenant Governor Rey, new officers and members were inducted, with District leaders such as Governor Felix Grepo, PDG Melvin Mendoza, Governor-elect Atty. Aleta Tolentino, and Governor-designate Dr. Nel Espino gracing the event.
  • The emotional highlight was when old and new members sang “You Light Up My Life” and “If We Hold On Togetherwhile holding hands, a cherished Kiwanis tradition that symbolizes unity and hope.
  • Division Conference (May 2025, Kiwanis Lodge, Angeles City): Another milestone where Division 2B proudly hosted top district leaders, reaffirming its strength and solidarity.

Conclusion: Better to Best, Indeed

Under Lieutenant Governor Rey Bonaobra’s leadership, Division 2B not only met but exceeded expectations. From achieving record-breaking membership growth to holding 11 council meetings, executing impactful community service projects, and earning strong visibility and fiscal stability — the term lived up to its name, taking the Division from “Better to Best.”

As the Division moves forward, the legacy of this term serves as both inspiration and a benchmark for what dedicated leadership and collective effort can achieve.

Building Up with Purpose: A Year of Service, Growth, and Lasting Impact

In Kiwanis, leadership is not defined by titles or accolades—it is measured by impact, unity, and the lives touched along the way. For Administrative Year 2024–2025, Lieutenant Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra of Kiwanis Division 2B, Philippine Luzon District turned the theme “Better to Best, Building Up” into a living, breathing reality.

Under his stewardship, Division 2B not only strengthened its internal bonds but also expanded its reach to serve more children and families than ever before. His term was a masterclass in leading with heart, forging partnerships, and creating history in the Kiwanis movement.

Breaking Records, Setting Standards

Lt. Gov. Rey made history by executing the first-ever Interisland Division Council Meeting (DCM) in the Philippine Luzon District—an ambitious undertaking that brought leaders together in an unprecedented way.

His Division didn’t just meet the standard ten DCMs a year. Under his watch:

  • 11 in-person DCMs were successfully conducted.
  • 4 emergency DCMs were held online to address urgent matters and keep momentum strong.
  • Division 2B boasted one of the largest delegate contingents (32) at the Kiwanis Nights, held January 25, 2025, at Solaire Resort Hotel—demonstrating unity and visibility at the district level.

Four Major Joint Projects That Made a Difference

Lt. Gov. Rey’s leadership saw four impactful joint Division 2B projects that blended service, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

1. Tree Planting for Kiwanis One Day – Lubao, Pampanga

After multiple postponements due to inclement weather, the Gumain Riverbank Tree Planting took root on November 16, 2024—even under Typhoon Kristina’s Signal No. 2 warning.

  • 250 saplings planted along a protected erosion zone.
  • 50 saplings donated to Del Carmen National High School with a signed MOA for upkeep.
  • 120 students joined in the effort, learning firsthand the importance of environmental care.

2. Kiwanis Week 110th Anniversary Celebration – Guagua & Angeles City

From January 19–26, 2025, Kiwanis Week brought energy and joy:

  • Wreath-laying at Plaza Burgos, Guagua with Mayor Alex Torres and Councilor Jovy Tinio.
  • “Zumbaliit” dance fitness event with daycare children electrified the celebration.
  • Performers received gifts, towels, tumblers, sweets, and a special Jollibee lunch.
  • The celebration continued at EPZA Resettlement Elementary School, where 300 children were fed and given gifts.

3. School Supplies for Remote Children – Dueg, Maasin, Tarlac

In challenging weather, Division 2B drove 2,000 feet above sea level to reach a remote school where 120 children awaited help. When unsafe conditions forced a change, supplies were entrusted to the school principal for safe distribution. The journey itself became a testament to the Kiwanians’ resilience—huddled together in a humble shack, sharing simple food, their spirits unshaken.

4. Relief Operations in Bacolor, Pampanga

Following devastating floods, Division 2B united in relief efforts:

  • 134 grocery packs with ready-to-eat food and hygiene kits distributed to displaced families.
  • Snacks and bottled water for 528 individuals, both children and adults.
This swift, coordinated action brought comfort and relief to hundreds of people affected by the disaster.

Membership Growth Milestone

Perhaps one of the most remarkable achievements of his term was membership growth. In just his first quarter, membership in Division 2B jumped from 130 to 173 members—a 33% increase, the largest in years.

The biggest contribution came from his mother club, Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, which welcomed 11 new members. For his outstanding recruitment efforts, Lt. Governor Rey received the Distinguished Member medal from Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District, a distinction typically awarded for bringing in five (5) new members.

Leadership That Builds, Inspires, and Unites

Lt. Gov. Rey’s leadership style was as much about listening as it was about acting. He fostered strong collaborations with local government units, schools, and businesses, multiplying the reach and efficiency of every project.

His guiding principle:

“Leadership is not about the position—it’s about the purpose. It’s the shared fire in every Kiwanian’s heart to serve with love, humility, and light. We don’t just run programs; we change lives. And we lead not for applause, but to build something that lasts.”

Under his term, Division 2B:

  • Maintained a laser-focus on children and families as the heart of every project.
  • Encouraged younger generations to step into service and leadership roles.
  • Built unity among clubs—transforming individual efforts into collective success.

A Legacy Beyond a Term

From feeding programs to environmental initiatives, from cultural celebrations to life-saving relief missions, Lt. Gov. Rey proved that “Better to Best, Building Up” is not just a theme—it’s a way of leading that others can follow.

His work was never about personal recognition but about building something lasting for the children, communities, and Kiwanians who will carry the torch forward.

A Secretary’s Reflection: Proud to Be a Kiwanian in Division 2B’s Historic Council Year

As the Charter Secretary of Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, I write this not only as a report—but as a proud Kiwanian. The Kiwanis year 2024–2025 has been nothing short of extraordinary under the passionate leadership of our very own Lt. Governor Reynaldo “Rey” Bonaobra of Division 2B, Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District.

A Record-Breaking Year: 11 DCMs + 4 Emergency Meetings

Traditionally, Divisions hold 10 Division Council Meetings (DCMs) in a year. But Lt. Gov. Rey made history with 11 DCMs, plus 4 emergency virtual meetings conducted through Google Meet—ensuring inclusivity and fast decision-making. It showed what strong, responsive, and modern leadership truly looks like.

Every meeting served not just as a checkpoint but as a moment of collaboration, celebration, and unity among all clubs in Division 2B.

First and Last DCMs: Bookends of Dedication and Celebration

The year began with the first DCM hosted by our own KC‑Lubao Gems at Espada Grill, Bataan. It was a spirited start, filled with hope and commitment. The year culminated with the 11th DCM, once again hosted by KC‑Lubao Gems at Greenview Resort, Hermosa, Bataan—but this time, with even greater meaning. In this Meeting we heard all the Club Achievements for Better to Best term, A.Y 2024-2025. This 11th DCM served also as year-end celebration and fellowship for all Division 2B leaders and members.

That last DCM marked also our 10th year as the officially chartered Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems. What made it more emotional was the story behind it. Years ago, the former Kiwanis Club of Lubao was de-chartered. But through perseverance, some of its devoted members regrouped, rechartered, and continued to serve. That legacy lives on today.

DCM in Palawan: Service Meets Adventure

Perhaps the most memorable DCM was the 5th, held in Palawan. Despite heavy rain, our leaders flew on February 11, 2025, to ensure the meeting—and bonding—went on. It became a unique blend of business, team building, and inspiration. It reminded us that service knows no weather or boundaries when commitment is strong.

A Year That Reflects the True Spirit of Kiwanis

What I saw and recorded throughout this year is a reflection of everything Kiwanis stands for: leadership, service, unity, and joy.

  • Our DCMs weren’t just meetings—they were experiences.
  • Our clubs weren’t just attendees—they were collaborators.
  • And our Division wasn’t just a structure—it was a family.

More Than Just Giving: How Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems Empowers Communities

Serving with Purpose, Empowering with Heart

At the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, giving is only the beginning. Our mission is rooted in empowering children and communities—uplifting lives through acts of compassion, consistent outreach, and long-term service. Each project we undertake is designed not just to address immediate needs, but to plant the seeds of hope, healing, and opportunity for the future.

Recent Projects Making a Lasting Impact

Gift-Giving to Aeta Communities and Vulnerable Children

We reached the indigenous Aeta families in the mountains of Floridablanca, bringing them essential groceries, hygiene kits, and Jollibee meals for their children—some of whom had never tasted it before. We also extended our support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children, making sure they feel valued, loved, and remembered.

School Supply and Slipper Distribution

In selected schools and neighboring barangays in Lubao, Pampanga, we provided school supplies and slippers to help underprivileged children start their school year with dignity. A simple pair of slippers or a new pencil case may seem small—but for these children, it means comfort, motivation, and a step toward a brighter future.

Free Music Lessons for Healing Hearts

Music is a powerful tool for expression and emotional recovery. We launched free music lessons for abused and abandoned children—giving them a voice, helping them rebuild their confidence, and allowing them to express their emotions through rhythm and melody.

Tree Planting for a Greener Tomorrow

Together with fellow Kiwanis clubs from Division 2B, we conducted a tree planting activity aimed at preserving the environment for future generations. This project reinforces our commitment not only to children’s welfare today but to the sustainability of the world they will inherit.

Empowerment That Goes Beyond Giving

What sets the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems apart is our holistic approach to service. We go beyond handouts—we build relationships, nurture talents, promote healing, and strengthen communities. Every slipper, meal, tree, and lesson is part of a larger vision: a world where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired.

Get Involved—Your Help Matters!

These projects are only possible with the support of kind-hearted individuals and partners. As we continue to expand our outreach, we invite you to walk with us in service.

UNITED IN SERVICE: Division 2B Clubs Bring Hope to Flood-Affected Families in Bacolor

When disaster strikes, unity in service becomes the strongest source of hope. On July 29, 2025, the eight Kiwanis Clubs of Division 2B proved exactly that by coming together for a major relief operation in Barangay Tinajero, Bacolor, Pampanga. This collaborative effort brought immediate aid to families and children severely affected by flooding caused by continuous monsoon rains and a recent typhoon.

Rising Above the Flood: A Community in Need

The floodwaters in Bacolor rose to dangerous levels—reaching over four feet, submerging homes, and displacing families who sought refuge at the barangay covered court. With 134 families left vulnerable and 528 individuals, including many children, struggling in temporary shelters, urgent action was needed.

The atmosphere in the evacuation center was heavy with uncertainty—muddy surroundings, soaked belongings, and weary faces told a story of hardship. But when Kiwanis volunteers arrived with food, water, and essential supplies, hope began to shine through. Smiles slowly replaced worry as families realized they were not alone.

What Kiwanis Delivered

The relief operation provided:
134 grocery packs with ready-to-eat food for displaced families and hygiene kits
Snacks and bottled water for 528 individuals, both children and adults

This initiative was spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra and powered by the unified efforts of the following clubs:

  • Kiwanis Club of Angeles City
  • Kiwanis Club of Bacolor
  • Kiwanis Club of Guagua New Generation
  • Kiwanis Club of Kuliat
  • Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems
  • Kiwanis Club of Mariveles
  • Kiwanis Club of Metro Tarlac
  • Kiwanis Club of Tres Heneracion

Strong Partnerships Make Stronger Impact

This successful service project would not have been possible without the generous support of partners and donors:

  • Kiwanis Funds from the Philippine Luzon District
  • PLD District Governor-Elect Atty. Aleta Tolentino, a proud Kapampangan, whose support amplified this effort
  • Pampanga State University (PSU)
  • Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Bacolor
  • Barangay Officials of Tinajero, Bacolor, Pampanga

Their assistance in resources, logistics, and coordination amplified the reach and impact of this mission, proving that service knows no boundaries when hearts unite for a cause.

A Message of Hope from Lt. Gov. Reynaldo M. Bonaobra

“Today, we have proven that true service knows no boundaries. When disaster struck, Kiwanis Division 2B did not hesitate—we united, we acted, and we served. This relief mission is more than just giving aid; it is a message of hope, compassion, and solidarity. Together, we bring light to the darkest days for the children and families who need us most. Let this remind us all: as long as there are communities in need, Kiwanis will always be there—Serving the Children of the World.”
Lt. Gov. Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, Division 2B

More Than Relief—A Message of Hope

For the evacuees, this aid was more than just supplies—it was a lifeline of compassion and solidarity. One mother expressed, “We had nothing left, and we were soaked and scared for days. Seeing people come here to help us, especially for the children, gives us strength to go on.”

For Kiwanis volunteers, the day was both humbling and inspiring. Witnessing the gratitude of families strengthened their commitment to the Kiwanis mission: Serving the Children of the World—not only in good times but especially in times of crisis.

Together, We Make a Difference

This relief operation reflects the very heart of Kiwanis: service, unity, and the relentless drive to make communities stronger. As the waters recede and recovery begins, Division 2B Kiwanians stand ready to continue helping Bacolor and other communities rise again.

Meet the Kiwanians Behind the Mission: Stories of Service and Heart

Behind Every Act of Service Is a Heart That Cares

At the core of the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems is a team of individuals driven by one shared mission: to serve the children of the world. Among them is Lt. Governor Rey, a shining example of humility, commitment, and transformative leadership in Kiwanis Division 2B. His story is a testament to how passion, when guided by purpose, can create waves of lasting impact.

From Volunteer to Visionary Leader

Lt. Gov. Rey officially joined Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems in May 2019, but his journey of service began even before that. Inspired by his sister, Charter Secretary Marlyn, he started out as a volunteer—helping in any way he could. Whether it meant being the driver, logistics aide, water distributor, or managing crowd control during outreach events, he gave his time with a cheerful heart.

What started as an act of support turned into a calling. Realizing how fulfilling it was to bring joy to children and to serve a cause greater than himself, Rey decided to become a full-fledged Kiwanian. He even brought his wife with him, Past President Micaella Bonaobra, sharing not only the workload but also the joy of service.

Lt. Governor Rey: A Dedicated Leader Steering Division 2B Forward

Lt. Governor Rey proudly serves as the third leader from the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems to hold the esteemed position of Division 2B Lieutenant Governor—the highest honor within the Division under the Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District. He follows in the footsteps of two distinguished Past Lieutenant Governors from the club: Charter President Jesusa Uy-Capuli (+), Lt. Governor AY 2013–2015 and Charter Treasurer Marilen Ramos, Lt. Governor AY 2020–2021.

Demonstrating his dedication to service, Lt. Governor Rey was honored to represent the Division at the Kiwanis Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) Convention, held from March 14–16, 2025, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, alongside the Better to Best Team of Philippine Luzon District Governor Felix “Jango” Grepo.

Today, he leads Division 2B, a dynamic division composed of eight active clubs:

  • KC-Angeles City
  • KC-Bacolor
  • KC-Kuliat
  • KC-Guagua New Generation
  • KC-Lubao Gems
  • KC-Mariveles
  • KC-Tarlac
  • KC-Tres Heneracion

In AY 2024–2025, Lt. Governor Rey has already made remarkable strides, growing Division 2B by 32% through the successful recruitment of 41 new members, bringing the total active and paid membership to 171. Under his leadership, KC-Lubao Gems also reached a membership high of 24, a testament to his commitment to growth and organizational vitality. LG Rey had also executed and accomplished 11 Division Council Meetings, where 10 Division Council Meetings in a year is the norm.

One of his flagship initiatives, the “Gift of Music” service project, has been instrumental in providing underprivileged children in Lubao, Pampanga, with a creative outlet to express themselves and heal through music. This project reflects his belief that service should be transformative and empowering.

Lt. Governor Rey’s approach to leadership is marked by hard work, humility, and heartfelt service. He has not only elevated the club’s visibility and impact but also strengthened camaraderie, unity, and collaboration among the Kiwanians of Division 2B. His tenure reflects a clear vision for sustainable growth and a deeper commitment to the Kiwanis mission—serving the children of the world.

But Lt. Gov. Rey isn’t done yet. With his term until September 30, 2025, he and the devoted Kiwanians of Division 2B remain steadfast in their goal to continue serving the children and contributing meaningfully to the Philippine Luzon District.

A Call to Serve with Heart

Lt. Governor Rey’s journey reminds us that the most meaningful leadership begins with simple acts of service. You don’t have to start big—all you need is the willingness to show up, lend a hand, and care. From logistics to leadership, every role matters in Kiwanis.

Hope in the Highlands: Kiwanis’ Mission in the Mountains

In the remote heights of Barangay Maasin, San Clemente, Tarlac—about 2,000 feet above sea level—lies Sitio Dueg, home to a resilient community of mostly Aeta families. Life here moves at the pace of the mountains: simple, challenging, and often far removed from the aid and resources enjoyed by lowland communities. For many of the indigenous Aeta children, access to basic school supplies is not a given—it’s a gift.

This year, Kiwanis International Division 2B, under the leadership of Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra, made that gift a reality. As part of their third joint service project, Kiwanis members from across eight clubs braved difficult weather and dangerous roads to deliver school supplies to 120 Aeta children in Sitio Dueg.

The Journey: Through Mud, Mist, and Mountain Roads

The road to Sitio Dueg is not for the faint of heart. On that day, 7th June 2025, the weather was far from kind—zero visibility, relentless mist, muddy slopes, bumpy rides, and sharp curves made the uphill climb treacherous. The wind howled through the mountain passes, and every kilometer felt like a test of determination.

Safety became a priority. The original plan to distribute the supplies directly to the children in their homes had to be adjusted. Instead, the packages—filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other essentials—were entrusted to the school principal of Dueg Resettlement Elementary School and the barangay leaders for distribution under safer conditions.

More Than a Mission—A Connection

When the Kiwanians finally stopped for rest, it was not in a comfortable hall or cafeteria, but in a small shack crudely built from salvaged materials—the kind of shelter common in upland Aeta communities. Huddled together in the cold, wet from the climb, they shared a modest meal of boiled eggs, pandesal, and water.

Despite the exhaustion, there were smiles—on the faces of the givers and, later, on the faces of the children who received the supplies. In these mountains, small acts ripple far. A single notebook could mean uninterrupted lessons. A pencil could be the first step in writing a dream.

Why This Matters: The Aeta Children of Dueg

The Aeta of Sitio Dueg in Barangay Maasin are one of the oldest indigenous groups in the Philippines, with a rich cultural heritage and deep connection to the land. However, their remote location often limits access to education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities.

For children here, school is both a safe space and a bridge to a better future—but only if they have the tools to learn. Something as simple as a complete set of school supplies can make the difference between staying in class or dropping out.

The Impact Beyond Supplies

This project was not only about delivering notebooks and pencils. It was about bringing hope and showing these children that they are not forgotten. It was about reinforcing the idea that their dreams are worth investing in, no matter how far the road or how harsh the climb.

Lt. Governor Reynaldo M. Bonaobra summed up the spirit of the mission: “Serving is not about convenience—it’s about commitment. When you reach the children who are hardest to reach, you bring the purest form of service.”

A Call to Keep Climbing

The journey to Sitio Dueg is symbolic of the Kiwanis mission itself—sometimes long, often difficult, but always worth it. Every kilometer climbed is a step toward a brighter future for children who, despite the odds, keep showing up to learn.

If you believe in helping where the need is greatest, we invite you to join hands with Kiwanis Division 2B. Your support—whether through donations, partnerships, or volunteering—can make the climb a little easier and the future a lot brighter for children like those in Sitio Dueg.

Gift of School Kits 2024: Empowering Young Learners in Lubao, Pampanga

Education is the foundation of every child’s future—and for many students in underserved communities, even basic school supplies remain out of reach. Since October 2024, the Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems, under the passionate leadership of Club President Merly B. Sevilla, has been on a mission to change that through its Gift of School Kits initiative.

This project brings hope, dignity, and practical support to young learners across Lubao, Pampanga, aligning with Kiwanis International’s global mission: “Serving the children of the world.”

🏫 Schools Reached (October 2024 – Present)

This ongoing service project began in Calangain Elementary School and has since expanded to:

  • San Isidro Elementary School
  • Baruya Elementary School
  • Santiago Elementary School
  • Lauc Pao Elementary School

Each school saw 100 students benefit from complete school supply kits—including notebooks, writing tools, and hygiene items. These essentials are critical for learning continuity, especially for children from low-income households.

Likewise, school kits were also distributed to the children living in the remote mountainous areas of Cabangan, Zambales in partnership with the Philippine Navy. These young beneficiaries from underprivileged families and isolated communities—were gifted with essential school items to help them continue their education with hope and dignity.

In addition, 607 students of Nabuclod Elementary School—an Aeta Indigenous community—received the same support through a meaningful partnership with Alexis Louise Quiza Children’s Foundation (ALQCF).

🎁 What’s in the Gift of School Kits?

Each child receives:

  • Notebooks, pad papers, and writing instruments
  • Coloring materials for creativity
  • A personal bag or envelope for school use

For many children, these are their first new supplies for the school year, offering motivation and boosting self-esteem in the classroom.

💡 Why This Matters: The Real Impact

  • Improved School Attendance: Children are more motivated to go to school when they are equipped and confident.
  • Family Relief: Parents struggling financially are supported in ensuring their children are school-ready.
  • Enhanced Learning: The right tools lead to better participation and academic outcomes.
  • Empowerment of Indigenous Communities: The outreach to Nabuclod affirms Kiwanis’ inclusive service, ensuring no child is left behind.

In Partnership with ALQCF

The success of this project—especially in reaching indigenous Aeta students in Nabuclod—would not have been possible without the enduring partnership with ALQCF. Their trust and support continue to amplify the reach and depth of Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems’ community service.

A Kiwanis Legacy of Service

This initiative is part of a broader legacy of Kiwanis International, a global organization dedicated to improving the lives of children through service and leadership. In Lubao, this mission is made real by volunteers who care deeply about their community and believe in the power of education.

Step by Step: How a Pair of Slippers Can Change a Child’s Day

For many of us, a pair of slippers is something we take for granted. But for countless underprivileged children in rural communities, especially in areas like Pampanga, going barefoot is a daily reality. The Kiwanis Club of Lubao Gems recently launched a Slipper Distribution Project, bringing not just footwear—but dignity, comfort, and joy—to children in need.

Why Slippers Matter More Than You Think

Children without proper footwear are exposed to injuries, infections, and long walks on rough terrain, often just to get to school. This seemingly simple need can greatly affect a child’s self-esteem, school attendance, and overall well-being.

In our recent service project, we distributed slippers to school-aged children in underserved communities, many of whom walk long distances daily. Their bright smiles and thankful hearts were powerful reminders that small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

Empowering Children One Step at a Time

This project isn’t just about footwear—it’s about showing children they are seen, valued, and cared for. A simple pair of slippers can restore a child’s confidence, reduce the risk of disease, and encourage regular school attendance.

Through our partnership with local schools and community leaders, we ensure that our efforts directly reach those most in need, including Aeta children and families in remote barangays.
